James "Bill" Clauser, 71, of Bartonville, passed away at 1:10 am on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at his home surrounded by family.

He was born on July 1, 1940 in Peoria, IL the son of James M. and Leah W. (Whitaker) Clauser. He married Ila Jean Oliver on July 9, 1960 in Bartonville, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Surviving are his wife, Jean of Bartonville, four children, Kevin Clauser, Karen (Clint) Sorrells, Kelli (Galen) Gingrich and Kenny (Stephanie) Clauser all of Bartonville Also surviving are fourteen grandchildren, Tabitha, Cristy, Nickolas, Kara, Kelsey, Kianna, Parker, Ian, Brenna, Kean, Brayton, Colton, Codi and Kiara; 5 1/2 great-grandchildren, one sister-in-law, Lyla King and several nieces and nephews.

One of Bill's greatest joys was watching his children, grandchildren and great-grandson participate in various activities, attending LCHS activities and square dancing with his wife Jean. Bill will be remembered for his ever present grin, caring heart, willingness to volunteer and help others, and as "Grandpa Bill" by many of the children in the Bartonville area.

Bill worked in Accounts Payable at Caterpillar Inc. for over 31 years before retiring in 1995. He was a member of the Methodist Men's Club, the Splash Committee and the Village of Bartonville Zoning Board. He worked the chain crew at LCHS varsity football games and has been a MIABA representative for LCHS for several years. He was a member of the LCHS Athletic Booster Club where he served as treasurer. Bill also worked concessions for various sports at LCHS. He was also a Band Booster member and chaperoned marching band trips and worked at pre and regular band camps doing prop work. The highlight of his time working with Band Boosters was watching the Marching Rockets win the 1996 Class 3A state championship at ISU.

A visitation will be Wednesday, July 4, 2012 from 5 to 7 pm at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. A funeral service will be on Thursday, July 5, 2012 at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Bartonville.
