Bartonville, IL – Jean Pierson, 78, of Bartonville, passed on at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at her home with her loving family by her side.

She was born June 25, 1934 in Peoria to George W. and Gertrude M. (Gunther) Funk. She married Conrad “Skip” Pierson in Peoria on January 29, 1955. He preceded her in heaven on November 9, 2007. They celebrated 52 years of marriage.

She was also preceded in heaven by her parents; two brothers, Ed and Bud Funk; and two sisters, Edna Ladd and Evelyn Davis.

Her legacy includes four children and nine grandchildren. They include daughter, Jean L. Crichton Youngren and her children, John (Leanna) Crichton, Adam (fiancé Carissa) Crichton, Brittany (fiancé Tony) Crichton; daughter, Connie S. (Gordon Jr.) Barkley and their children, Brianna Barkley, Gordon (Anna) Barkley III, Brooke Barkley; son, Conrad G. “Skip” (Diane) Pierson and their son, Conrad “Little Skip” Pierson; son, Steven Pierson and his daughters, Emily Jo and Kylie Pierson. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Velda Funk and several nieces and nephews.

Jean enjoyed her years at Caterpillar Inc., and at Canteen. She also worked alongside her two sons at Pierson Mattress and Furniture Co. which she enjoyed greatly.

Jean was a devoted wife, mother, grandma, sister and had many dear friends. She enjoyed gardening and one of her favorite places was her own beautiful backyard, where she and her family and friends enjoyed many gatherings.

She was a member of Living Hope Community Church in Bartonville and was an avid follower of Jesus Christ.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 12, 2012 at her church at 6116 W. Lancaster Road in Bartonville. Further visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday morning at her church. Funeral Services will follow at 11 a.m. Friday at her church with Rev. Art Georges officiating. Burial will be at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
