Betty M. Rogers, 74, of Peoria Heights, passed away at 11:50am Friday September 21, 2012 at Rosewood Care Center in East Peoria.
She was born on March 8, 1938 in Spring Valley the daughter of Oliver and Isabell Cartwright Vowels. She married Stan Meinert Sr. on November 22, 1958 in Peoria; he passed away on June 3, 1990. She later married Glen Rogers on March 6, 1995 in Peoria. Glen was her companion until the time of her death.
Surviving are her children Lori (Gary) Martin of Rockledge, FL; and their son Andrew; Stan (Susan) Meinert Jr. of Washington and their son Ethan; and Sandi (Greg) Hill of Metamora and their children Matt, Sarah, and Renee. Also surviving is one brother Ben (Velma) Vowels of Peru, IL. One brother and sister-in-law John “Red” (Mildred) Vowels preceded her in death.
Before she married, she worked at Illinois Bell Telephone in Peoria for several years. After her marriage to Stan she was a homemaker, and served as an election judge for Woodford County for many years. She was a member of Moose Club (Crystal River, Florida), American Legion (#155 Auxiliary), 40/8 and LeFemmes in Hernando, Florida.
A funeral service will be held 6pm Tuesday at Mason Funeral Home Germantown Hills Chapel. Visitation will be one-hour prior to her service. Cremation rites will follow her service with a private burial at a later date in Springdale Cemetery in Peoria. Memorials can be made to the Diabetes Foundation.
