Grace Schoonover, 86, a resident of Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community, Chenoa died at 2:47 am Monday, November 19, 2012 at the Retirement Community.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, November 23, 2012 at Aspen Grove Cemetery, Burlington, IA with the Rev. James Messer officiating. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury, IL is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be given to the Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community, Chenoa or the Alzheimer’s Association.
Ms. Schoonover was born December 23, 1925 in Washington, IA the daughter of Henry J. and Sara Jessie Fielden Schoonover.
Surviving is a sister, Fae Andriano, Salt Lake City, Utah, several nieces and nephews including Connie (John) Rich, Fairbury, IL, and a sister-in-law, Donna Schoonover, Washington, IA.
She is preceded in death by two brothers, Norman and Ralph Schoonover, four sisters, Helen Coats, Margaret Schoonover, Inez Patterson, and Joan Messer.
Ms. Schoonover was a graduate of the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI. She was a Certified Public Accountant at both, Peat-Marwick-Mitchell, Chicago and later the Mobil Oil Company. She began her employment with Mobil in 1968 traveling the world for them. She retired on August 1, 1987.
Her interests included traveling; restoring homes, and being with small children as well as older people.
