WASHINGTON ~ Janet Ray Ozmun, 79, of Washington, passed away at 2:33 p.m. Friday, November 30, 2012 at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.

Born June 22, 1933 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Raymond Theodore and Marion (Alder) Huddart, she married Clifford Clyde Ozmun on June 1, 1956 in El Reno Oklahoma. He survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Mary L. (Patrick) Alesandrini of Orlando, Florida; three sons, David N. (Adria) Ozmun of Arkadelphia, Arkansas, John C. (Ruth) Ozmun of Converse, Indiana and Buddy N. (Kara) Ozmun of Sweetser, Indiana; ten grandchildren, Neal A. Ozmun, Chet C. Ozmun, Gus W. Ozmun, Janet S. Ozmun, Johnny D. Ozmun, Elizabeth D. Alesandrini, Anna P. Ozmun, Ray E. Ozmun, Landry R. Ozmun and Lexi K. Ozmun; one great-granddaughter, Kylee R. Sims and two sisters, JoAnne (Don) Newman of Chickasha, Oklahoma and Judy Roach of El Reno, Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Janet was a member of Dayton Avenue Baptist Church in Peoria where she had been a member of the church choir, a soloist and also worked in the nursery. She was a former member of First Baptist Church in Plainview, Texas.

She was a 1955 graduate of Oklahoma Baptist University with a Bachelor’s degree in Voice and a minor in Piano. Janet was a 50-year member and past president of the Peoria Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota Music Sorority.

After teaching for twenty-two years, Janet retired from Central Grade School in Washington in 1992, where she taught fifth grade language arts. She previously taught at Columbia Grade School in Washington.

She enjoyed reading, travelling and especially time spent with family.

Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at Dayton Avenue Baptist Church in Peoria. Pastor H.V. “Sunny” Mooney will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the church. Cremation will be accorded following the funeral. Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
