Canton-Mildred N. Spyres, 82, passed away on Saturday, December 1, 2012, at the Red Oak Estates in Canton.
She was born on October 6, 1930 in Fairview, IL to John and Bernice Clutts Dunbar. They preceded her in death.
Mildred married George A. Spyres on April 15, 1949 in Canton. He preceded her in death on March 21, 2010.
Surviving are three children Miriam Kay Simerly of Tinley Park, Marvin (Angela) Spyres of Makanda, Muriel (David) Madson of Washington, one sister Chella Madge Kumer of Canton, seven grandchildren Tana Jo (Brandon) Brancato, Cory Spyres, Katrina Simerly, Amber (Mark) Goddard, Nicholas Ronketto, Evan Simerly, Joshua Madsen and ten Great Grandchildren.
She worked for the Canton Head start as a home visitor for 16 years. She was also a member of the Shields Chapel United Methodist Church and a member of the Gideon’s Auxiliary Fulton Mason Camp.
Also preceding her in death was her brother Chellis Malcom Dunbar.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at the Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton with a visitation on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at the funeral home. Burial will be at the White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton.
Memorials may be made to the church memorial fund or to the Gideon’s International.
