PEKIN ~ Anna Louella Artz, 95, of Pekin, passed away at 12:50 p.m. Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Timbercreek Rehab & Health Care in Pekin.
She was born August 28, 1917 in Argenta to John E. and Stella Jane (Foster) Switzer. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Robert Earl Clark, Jr. on Oct. 22, 2008 in Manito; one daughter, Helen Ann Clark Bledsoe on Aug. 22, 2000 in Pekin; one great-grandchild; four brothers and three sisters.
Surviving are three grandchildren, Paula M. Kinsman, John K. (Tammy) Clark, both of Pekin and Robert E. (Tammy) Clark, III of Peoria; many great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
A lifelong resident of Pekin, Anna worked as a private duty nurse for 15 years, retiring in 1968. Prior to that, she worked as a custodian of the Illinois Department of Human Services for 9 years and as a CNA at the former Tazewell County Nursing Home for several years.
After retirement, Anna devoted her time to her family and grandchildren. She enjoyed watching old western movies and reading. She also enjoyed nature, caring for her plants, yard and feeding her squirrels, rabbits and birds.
She was of the Methodist faith.
Her graveside funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin. The Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
