Earl W. McDugle, 95 of Pontiac, IL, died on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at 9:30 AM at the ASTA Care Center of Pontiac.
Cremation Rites have been accorded. A Memorial Service will take place at a later date. Calvert & Martin Funeral Home in Pontiac is handling the arrangements. Memorials in Earl’s name may be left to the Pontiac Public Library for large print books.
Earl was born on February 13, 1917 in Reddick, IL a son of George and Hannah (Cummins) McDugle. He married Hazel Bernice Ripsch on July 6, 1941 in McDowell, IL. She preceded him in death on December 14, 2002.
He is survived by four sons: Dennis (Julie) McDugle of Pontiac, IL, Gary (Connie) McDugle of Pontiac, IL, Dale (Jackie) McDugle of Rockford, IL and Loren (Candy) McDugle of Chenoa, IL; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren and his special friend: Ida Mae Fortna. He was preceded in death by three brothers: Clarence, Ralph and Russell and five sisters: Daisy, Mary, Agnes, Mildred and Eleanor.
Mr. McDugle was educated in Reddick, Taylorville and Litchfield, IL. He served our country in the United States Navy during WWII. He worked as a salesman for Chief City Tobacco and as a truck driver. He was a member of the former Moose Lodge, the American Legion and the VFW.
He was an avid bowler and was the national senior bowling champion in 1974 in Milwaukee, WI.
