Havana, IL -Henrietta Turner of Havana passed away at 7:12 am Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at St. John's Hospice in Springfield, IL. She was born in Havana the daughter of John and Mary Close.
She worked for Atwater Farms, McClure Gladiola Farm and until recent years spent her winters in Stuart Florida working on farms there. She had a strong work ethic and lived a simple life with Khaki, her dog, who was always at her side. She enjoyed gardening and caring for her beautiful roses and peonies.
She is survived by two nephews, William “Mike” and Irvin “Pete” Close of Lincoln, IL and her little white Shih Tzu, Khaki. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Irvin of Kilbourne, one sister, Lutha Mae Gilland of Port Lucie, Florida and her beloved poodle, Jimbo.
Henrietta was loved and respected by her neighbors and friends and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, January 19, 2013 at the Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana, conducted by Rev. Jim Buchanan. Hurley Funeral Home in Havana is in charge of services.
