Born February 24, 1928 in Tazewell County to James John and Katherine (Volk) Lohnes, he married Glenna Maltby on August 8, 1954 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are four sons, Richard (Karla) Lohnes of LeRoy, Dan (Debbie) Lohnes of Barry, Scott (Suzanne) Lohnes of San Diego, CA and David (Donna) Lohnes of Wooster, OH; eleven grandchildren, Annie (Jared) Hobson, Brian Lohnes, Rebecca (Aryeh Cohen-Wade) Lohnes, Danielle (Joel) Kroencke, Alex Lohnes, Sam Lohnes, Marjorie Lohnes, Mark Lohnes, John Lohnes, Rob (Rachael) Corl and Jim Corl; ten great-grandchildren, Garrett Lohnes, Jase Edward Hobson, Nolan John Hobson, Kailan Corl, William Corl, Joe Oxford, Holly Oxford, Donovan Corl, Madison Corl and Logan Corl.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Loren Lohnes, Ernest Lohnes, Virgil Lohnes and Earl Lohnes and two sisters, Erma Buhrow and Mary Louise Roth.
Marvin retired in 1991 from Witco in Mapleton after 29 ½ years of service as the traffic manager.
He attended First Baptist Church in Pekin, and was a former member of Second Reformed Church and St. Paul United Church of Christ, both in Pekin. At Second Reformed, he was a former Elder and Deacon.
Marvin served as treasurer for the Cincinnati Fire Protection District. He also was a volunteer escort at Pekin Hospital from 1991 to 2010 with over 5,000 hours of service. He was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. He had also served on the Rankin School Board for a number of years.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 21, 2013 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Mark D. Friday will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Private burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
