CAMBRIDGE - Roger A. Lindbom, 61, of rural Cambridge, died at 5:45 AM, Friday, January 18, 2013 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, January 21 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva. Rev. Ann Champion will officiate. Visitation will be held from 3:00-5:00 PM, Sunday, January 20 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bishop Hill Cemetery where military rites will be accorded by the Galva Fusiliers . Memorials may be directed to the Bishop Hill Community Methodist Church, the Bishop Hill Old Settlers Association or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
He was born February 20, 1951 in Kewanee, the son of Kenneth L. and Betty (Barlow) Lindbom. Survivors include his daughter, Chelsee Lindbom of Cambridge, a brother, Ronald (Dianne) Lindbom of Kewanee, a niece, Paige (Jeff) Vanek of St. Albert, Canada, a nephew, Jason (Amy) Lindbom of Lexington, IL and three great nieces and a great nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Robert and two daughters in infancy, Ashley and Lindsey.
Roger graduated from Galva High School in 1969. He served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War obtaining the rank of Sargent serving in the 101st Division and had received the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He had worked as a carpenter. He was a member of the Bishop Hill Community Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
