Groveland - Merlin K. Tucker, 94, of Groveland, died at 10:55 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at his home.
He was born Feb. 2, 1918, in Groveland to Clarence and Elsie (Vernor) Tucker. He married Pauline Anderson on June 29, 1940, in Pekin. She preceded him in death on July 30, 2009.
Surviving are two daughters, Sandy (Gene) Howell and Linda (Andy) Hamilton, both of Groveland; one son, Tom (Char) Tucker of Groveland; eight grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Merlin worked for R.G. LeTourneau in Peoria prior to his service in the Army during World War II. After returning from the service, he worked 30 years for Keystone Steel & Wire Co. in Bartonville, retiring in 1972 as a shop supervisor.
He was a very active member of Groveland Missionary Church.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton, with Pastor Matt Tucker and Pastor Mitch Tucker officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, and one hour prior to services Monday, both at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Groveland Mennonite Church Cemetery, where military services will be conducted.
Memorials may be made to the Peoria Rescue Ministries or to the Neighborhood House Ministries in Peoria.
