She was born May 12, 1915 in Viola, Ill. the daughter of Jess Thomas and Viola Bigham Lydic. She married Irvin Fox in Monmouth, Ill. She later married Charles Rusk in Jerseyville, Ill. He preceded her in death on July 9, 1983.
She is survived by a son, Samuel (and Patricia) Fox of Cameron, Ill.; one step daughter, Donna Childers of Galesburg; a granddaughter, Judy (Steve) Hoepker; a great granddaughter, Morgan Stevenson; a great great grandson, Samuel Stevenson; numerous step grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and two brothers, Jess (Betty) Lydic of Abingdon, and Lowell (June) Lydic of Cedar, Kan. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two step daughters and one step son.
Harriett worked for the Admiral Corporation for 32 years, retiring in 1975. She graduated from Monmouth High School in 1933. She lived in Cameron for a number of years, where she assisted with the street lighting project, was active in local theatre there, and was past president of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a member of the Cameron Christian Church, where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the Ladies Missionary Society. Harriett had been a Cub Scout den mother. She had lived in Galesburg since 1962.
Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Cameron Christian Church. Memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jeff Nielsen and Rev. Paul Lydic officiating.
