June Wheeler, 83, of Peoria, passed away at 8:11 a.m., Friday, February 8, 2013 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center.
June was born on December 24, 1929 in Vivian, LA to Willard Gerald and Rosalee (McMahon) Fish. She married Lloyd E. Wheeler in August 1949 in Chicago. He preceded her in death in October 1991 in Spencer, IN.
She was also preceded in death by one brother, William Gordon Fish.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra (Allen) Neese of Edelstein, IL; three sons, Frank (Kathleen) Wheeler of York, NE, Jerry (Naomi) Wheeler of Alamogordo, NM, and John (Susan) Wheeler of Prince Frederick, MD; one sister, Elaine Wood of Woodville, AL; grandchildren, Angela, Michelle, Frank Jr., Carissa, Joshua, Justina, Simon, Samantha, and Spencer; and great-grandchildren, Madison, Caiden, Emaline, and Eisley.
June worked as a seamstress for Bergner’s for many years.
She was a member of Northwest Church of Christ. She loved quilting, sewing and water aerobics.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Monday, February 11, 2013 at Wright & Salmon Mortuary. Pastor Dean Kennedy will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Sunday, February 10, 2013 at the mortuary. An additional visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will be in Mt. Hawley Cemetery.
