Marion C. Olsson, 89, of Carbondale, IL passed away at 4:36 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2013 at her son's home in Peoria, IL with all of her children by her side.
She was born May 19, 1923 in Manhattan, KS daughter of Maynard H. and Mary (Germo) Coe. She married Phillip H. Olsson in Manhattan, KS on May 4, 1944. He preceded her in death on Feb. 21, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Maynard "Hank" Coe; nephew, John Coe; and daughter-in-law, Rachel Wylie Spaniol Olsson.

Marion is survived by 3 children, Jerion C. (Dr. David L.) DeWeese of Edwardsville, IL, Dr. Phillip J. "Jim" (Debra) Olsson of Peoria, Jeffrey S. (Krista L.) Olsson of Franklin, TN; 13 grandchildren, Aaron D. (Alexis) DeWeese, Angela M. (Brian) Phelan, Adam D.(Segrid Ruth) DeWeese, Ambre M. (Richard) Torbett, Phillip D. (fiancé Jessica VanDalen) Olsson, Dr. J. Scott (Jacqueline) Olsson, Daniel C. (Charito) Olsson, Darin (Beth) Spaniol, James (Sara) Spaniol, Alicia Votaw, Paul Votaw, Jillian L. Olsson, Holly M. Olsson; her brother, Dr. Harold (Peggy) Coe of Charleston, IL, 19 great-grandchildren, and eight nieces and nephews. Additionally, nephew John Coe's wife Carmen survives.

Marion was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Carbondale, IL where she had served as a Deacon and Elder, taught Bible School and sang in the Choir. She was a member of the P.E.O. Chapter GX in Carbondale, IL, Delta Delta Delta, Mu Phi Epsilon and the D.A.R. She volunteered at Carbondale Memorial Hospital for several years. She enjoyed many activities including Learning in Retirement at S.I.U.C., Church Book Club, several bridge clubs, crafts, and had been a Jazz musician playing the string bass and piano. She and her husband enjoyed boating, RV travelling, and when their children were young they enjoyed camping. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt and will be dearly missed.
The family would like to thank OSF Hospice, her own church family at Carbondale First Presbyterian Church, and her extended church families at the First Presbyterian Church in Edwardsville, IL, the First United Methodist Church of Peoria, IL, and the First Presbyterian Church of Harlingen, TX.
Cremation has been accorded. Memorial Services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Carbondale, IL at a later date. Inurnment of ashes will be at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park Mausoleum in Carbondale, IL.
