Frances Mae Steinkamp, 83, of Canton, IL, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2013 at 1:40 a.m. at Graham Hospital in Canton.
The daughter of W. Carl and Martha (Thomas) Kramer, she was born on May 2, 1929 in Colfax, IN.
She is survived by five children, Rebecca Drogen of Denver, CO; Thomas (Susan) Steinkamp of Evansville, IN; Elizabeth (Helmut) Taeubert of Denver, CO; James (Maureen) Steinkamp of Hinsdale, IL; and Mary (Barton) Brown of Canton, IL; six grandchildren, Tara Fliesher, Jessica Suhrheinrich, Jason Ballard, Erika Brown, and Connor and Keelan Steinkamp; five great-grandchildren; one brother, William Kramer; one sister, Patricia (Dave) Evans. She also leaves behind her best friend and pet, Zoey.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She had worked as a bookkeeper at several places, including the YMCA and Drow Hardware Store, which she eventually purchased and operated until its closing. However, the most significant job she ever had was being a mother to her children.
She was of the Lutheran faith.
Frances enjoyed gardening, Bingo, and caring for animals.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Private services will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Fulton County Humane Society.
