Lois Jane Phelps, 88, Normal, IL, formerly of Porterville, Calif., went to be with the Lord on Sunday – August 25, 2013 at Heritage Health, Normal, IL;Her celebration of life will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, with Rev. Ted Max, a grandson officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Porterville, Calif. Visitation will be 5 – 7 p.m., Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington. Memorials may be made to Home Sweet Home Ministries, Bloomington, IL.;Mrs. Phelps was born March 27, 1925 at Clinton, IL, a daughter of Perry Cromer and Edna Louise Burns Coppenbarger. She married Robert Dale Phelps on May 1, 1943 at Decatur, IL. He went home to be with the Lord, March 8, 2009.;Survivors include her children, Rebecca (Gary) Max, Normal, IL, Glenda (John) Armstrong, Porterville, Calif., Robert (Paula) Phelps, Sammamish, Wash., and Libby (Brian) Scheer, Porterville, Calif. 16 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, a sister, Betty Klegseth, Maysville, MO, a half-sister, Judy (David) Welch, Greenville, IL and two half-brothers, Richard (Shirley) Coppenbarger, Decatur, IL and Perry Kent (Ruth) Coppenbarger, Bonnet Mills, MO.;Her parents, a granddaughter Cinda Max, a great grandson, Bennett Miller, and three half-brothers, James, Phillip and Charles Coppenbarger preceded her in death.;Mrs. Phelps was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, Porterville, Calif.;She formerly worked for Beckman Instruments and later in social services in Tulare County, Calif., prior to retirement.
