Ernest John “Ernie” Hahn, 85, of Cullom passed away, Sunday August 25, 2013 at his residence;Cremation Rites will be accorded. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Saturday, August 31, 2013 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Cullom, IL, with Pastor Trudy Foote officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the hour of service, Saturday at church. Inurnment will follow in West lawn Cemetery, Cullom, with a Luncheon to follow at the Church. Memorials in Ernie’s Name may be left to OSF Hospice or to a charity of donor’s choice. Calvert & Martin Funeral Home in Cullom is handling the arrangements.;Ernie was born the only son of Ralph and Ruth (Decker) Hahn on July 11, 1928 in Ford County, Illinois. He married Margaret Van Alstyne in August 2010.;He is survived by his wife, Margaret of Cullom, three sons: Danny (Kuniko) Hahn of Santa Clara CA., Jerry (Barbara) Hahn of Minonk, IL, Randal Hahn of Webster TX, four grandchildren: Jennifer Nitta, Brian Hahn, Mark Hahn, Eli Hahn, four great-grandchildren, three step-children: Michael Van Alstyne, Mary Jo McBride and Jacquelyn Goscha all of Colorado, one sister, Louise (Lowell) Allen of Fairbury, IL and two nieces Beverly Pearce and Janet Brady. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 48 years Lucille (Stevens) Hahn.;Ernie graduated from Cullom High School in 1946, He was a carpenter and later a partner in the Cullom Cabinet Company, producing custom cabinetry until his retirement in 1991. He was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Cullom where he served on many committees and sang in the choir. He loved to travel and visited many locations, in the United States and abroad.
