Leona Francis (Saupe) Meyers, age 91, passed away at 5:10 A.M. at her Peoria home on Sunday, September 8, 2013, where her family was caring for her. Born to John Julius and Stella Marguerite (Muir) Saupe on January 11, 1922, she married LeRoy Hamilton Meyers on June 14, 1941, who passed away on May 15, 1977. Also, preceding her in death were her parents, husband and six brothers: William, Maynard, Russell, Carter, Lewis, and Don Saupe. Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel, are in charge of her funeral arrangements. A visitation will be held at Trinity Presbyterian Church located at 4400 S. Airport Rd., Bartonville on Saturday, September 14, 2013 from 10-11:30 A.M., immediately followed by a service officiated by Pastor Debbie Howard, with interment in the Lutheran Cemetery. Her son Ronald L. (Marla Curry) Meyers of Great Falls, Montana and her son Rick L. (Betty Cooper) Meyers of Peoria, Illinois, four grandchildren (Colleen Mannix, Brian (Janet) Meyers, Erick (Michele) Meyers, and Shannen (Jennifer) Meyers and 11 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and her sister-in-law Joann Saupe survive her. Her great grandchildren are: Joshua and Jacob Mannix, Andrew Meyers, Erin, Derick, and Ericka Meyers, Abbey Norwood, and Sebastien, Autumn, Noah, and Savannah Meyers. Besides being a homemaker, she also worked in the offices of Morton Pottery, Commercial Solvents, and at Brown's Sporting Goods where she worked as Mr. Maurice Brown's secretary and later run the merchandising office. She worked for the Brown family for 25 years, retiring at age 66. Leona was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Bartonville. She was an avid bowler for 55 years earning numerous trophies, but the one she felt most honored by was her pending induction into the Bowling Hall of Fame.
