GERMANTOWN HILLS – Louis Richard “Dick” Jewell, 81, of Germantown Hills, passed away at 8:15 p.m., Monday, October 21, 2013, at St. Joseph Home, Lacon.;Dick was born on September 3, 1932, in Peoria to William F. and Jennie Mae (Irelan) Jewell. He married Beatrice Anne “Beatie” Shellcrosslee on March 15, 1958, in Creve Coeur. She survives.;He is also survived by his son, Lindell (Nancy) Jewell of Germantown Hills, two grandchildren, Cameron (Stefani) Jewell and Alexis Jewell.;He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Jewell and William Jewell, and three sisters, Laura Young, Catherine Rometti, and Margaret Ann Jewell.;Dick achieved the rank of sergeant in the Army, and served in the Korean War. He worked as a carpenter superintendent for C. Iber & Sons for 42 years, and later retired from Leander Construction, Inc.;He was a proud member of Carpenter’s Union Local #183.;Dick participated in pALZ support group through the Alzheimer’s Association.;Funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Friday, October 25, 2013, at Wright & Salmon Mortuary. Father Neri Greskoviak will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, October 24, 2013, also at the mortuary. An additional visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the service at the mortuary.
