PEORIA - Melissa Sue Hand, 28, of Peoria passed away on Monday, March 10, 2014, at her home after a long battle with alcohol addiction.;Contrary to the teasing she received from her brother, she was not found under a rock and was, in fact, born on May 13, 1985, to James Hand and Melody White at OSF St. Francis Hospital.;She is survived by both parents, her children, Isaac Moulton and Chloe Guerra, her brother, Jim Hand, niece, Autumn Hand, grandmother, Effie White, and grandfather, Harold Hand. She is also survived by her long time boyfriend, Eric Guerra, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends.;She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Dorothy Hand and Chester White.;Missy attended Peoria Heights Grade School, and after entering the work force for a short while, she decided that work was for suckers and became a stay-at-home mother. Her home was not always in perfect order, but it was always filled with love for her two children.;Missy ultimately lost her battle with alcoholism. This is not her defining trait, but it was a part of who she was. She was full of life and loved to party. Eventually, the party came to an end and unfortunately took with it the life of this wonderfully caring mother, daughter, sister, cousin, aunt, niece, and friend.;If there is any phrase that embodies Missy, it is that she was a person with a big heart. Although she loved to talk more than anything, she was a great listener for anyone in need of someone to talk to. Everyone who knew her would describe her as having an amazing zest for life and being the life of the party, whether she had been invited or not. She enjoyed writing and was an accomplished poet, having been published as a teenager. She truly was a caring soul and will be deeply missed by all that knew her.;Melissa’s favorite color was pink. The family is requesting that those attending the visitation and/or funeral wear something pink in her memory.;A funeral service will be 10 a.m., Saturday, March 15, 2014, at the Swan Lake Memory Gardens Mausoleum chapel. Pastor Lance Zaerr will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 14, 2014, at Wright & Salmon Mortuary. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens.;The family asks that memorials be made to her surviving children at CEFCU.;Tributes and condolences may be submitted to www.wrightandsalmon.com.
