NORTH PEKIN ~ Ted “Teddy” Dixon, Jr., 88, of North Pekin, passed away at 12:16 a.m. Sunday, July 6, 2014 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.;Born December 21, 1925 in Farmington to Orville and Velma (Van Houten) Dixon, he married Sarah E. Harding on October 9, 1948 in Williamsville. She died February 2, 1997 in Pekin. He also was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.;Surviving are one son, Ted Dixon of North Pekin, one brother, Richard Dixon of Bellevue and one sister, Virginia (Homer) Robinson of Peoria.;A World War II veteran with the Merchant Marines, he also was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War.;He worked for Yellow Freight in Morton as a truck driver, retiring in April of 1989. He was a member of Teamsters and Chauffeurs Union Local 627 in Peoria.;He enjoyed golfing, fishing and watching NASCAR. He favorite driver was Jeff Gordon and he was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.;His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
