BLOOMINGTON, Ill -- The first of two basketball championship weekends are in the books for the Illinois High School Sports Association, but attention is being pulled away from the court.

Last week, a resolution was proposed by State Representative Linda Chapa LaVia that could potentially dissolve the IHSA and transfer responsibilities to the State Board of Education.

The resolution alleges IHSA refuses to release details on contracts with vendors and suppliers.

The IHSA has now released a response, saying in part, "The Association has...shared millions of dollars of revenue with its members, and created great partnerships with communities such as Peoria and East Peoria, generating millions of tourism dollars all around Illinois."

The resolution would have to pass a hearing in the House Education Committee before hitting the floor for a potential vote.
