BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Bloomington’s hockey team will have a new name when it enters the Southern Professional Hockey League this fall.
Team officials announced the new name, the Bloomington Thunder, on Tuesday.
This is the third name change in eight-years. The team will now share the same name as the Bloomington-Normal Youth Hockey Association teams.
The new name comes with new team colors, black, silver and purple and a new logo.
Team officials decided to re-brand the team rather than engage in a legal battle with the Central Hockey League (CHL) over the Blaze name.
