Sports ranging from football to baseball, soccer, golf and volleyball are mainstays of our children’s lives today in the Heart of Illinois. Our news coverage is full of the problems our children face with balancing activities and school work, peer pressure, National athletes who fall short of being the heroes we expect them to be...the list goes on and on.

So, HOI-19 and Jim Mattson want to make sure that student athletes in Central Illinois who are doing the right things and providing good examples to those who will fill their shoes in the years to come are highlighted each week on HOI-19 News.

HOI-19 and Benningfield Chiropractic will award $50 grants weekly to the school of the Athlete of the Week. If you know of an athlete that is providing a good example in the community then submit them to be the Athlete of the Week.

Middle School to High School classrooms are eligible, and must be located in one of the following counties: Peoria, Tazewell, Woodford, McLean, Fulton, Mason, Stark, Marshall, Putnam, or Livingston County. All applications will be evaluated and awarded by our Athlete of the Week Advisory Board comprised of Benningfield Chiropractic and HOI 19 staff committee members.
