Fifth-year senior center Anthony Thompson and sophomore point guard Walt Lemon Jr. shared game-high scoring honors with 10 points during the annual Bradley Basketball Red-White Scrimmage in front of 2,056 fans Tuesday night at Renaissance Coliseum.
The Braves suited up 12 players for the intrasquad scrimmage and the rosters fluctuated, though the Red team was credited with a 34-21 victory. The scrimmage featured two 10-minute halves with a running clock.
Freshman forward Shayok Shayok equaled sophomore center Jordan Prosser with a game-high six rebounds. Shayok added seven points, three assists and a steal. The 6-foot-3 Lemon, who is transitioning from a shooting guard into the point guard role, was 5-for-9 from the floor, snared five rebounds, dished out two assists against one turnover and made off with two steals in his 20 minutes.
Thompson was 5-for-6 from the floor and added four rebounds, an assist and a blocked shot in his 14 minutes of work.
Less than a week into the official practice season, Bradley now will have two weeks to prepare for its first of two exhibition games, Nov. 1 versus Wisconsin-Parkside at Renaissance Coliseum. The Braves also will host College of Wooster in an exhibition game Nov. 8 at Carver Arena, before opening the regular season Nov. 13 versus UMKC.
