25 Sports has learned that
two men with Illinois State ties
have applied for the Redbirds head coaching
job.
Former ISU assistant coach Ray Giacoletti
is a candidate. Now an assistant at Gonzaga, Giacoletti
has been a head coach at Utah, Eastern Washington and
North Dakota State. The East Peoria alum assisted Bob Bender
at ISU.
Also in the mix, is former Redbird Dan Muller. Muller has been
an assistant coach under former ISU Coach Kevin Stallings for the
last 12 years at Vanderbilt.
Muller has no head coaching experience, but he played on ISU's back-to-back Valley regular season and tournament champions in the late 90s.
