Illinois State's wait is over, and as coach-in-waiting, Tim Jankovich's wait is just beginning.
After more than a week of speculation,
Jankovich announces Thursday that he's leaving ISU.
Jankovich spent five seasons in Normal, going 104-and-64 and leaving a talented team behind.
He will be SMU's associate head coach and coach-in-waiting
under Larry Brown.
Jankovich just signed a five-year contract extension at ISU, but
his pay will go up from 455-thousand a year to 700-thousand, more than a fifty percent increase.
Illinois State Athletic Director Gary Friedman did not name an interim coach. The players we spoke with say they expect everyone will return next season for the Redbirds.
