EAST PEORIA, Ill -- Are you ready for some football?

Thousands of Americans have been waiting since February for Wednesday night's NFL opener between the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants. Local sports bars are ready to cash in on that fever.

David McKenny says he usually comes to Buffalo Wild Wings in East Peoria to watch his favorite team with his dad and his uncle. Wednesday started another season of that tradition.

"It's the first game of the season and why not start off with America's team to watch first," said McKenny.

He said they try to get there early to get a table, especially if the Bears or Packers are playing. General Manager Andrew Williams said that's just the way he likes it.

"We up the staff, we up all the orders, we try to make sure all the a/v systems ready to go," said Williams.

Williams said business usually more than doubles on a game day.
He says a lot of sports bars offer the same type of atmosphere so this year they are going to up their game on Sundays.

"We're going to do a little half-time show at the noon game. The East Peoria raiderettes and cheerleaders are going to come in here, we're going to have a little half-time prep rally. Do a little dance and give out some prizes and stuff," he said.

Williams said it's all in an effort to stay competitive against other sports bars and make sure everyone is winner on game day.
