Bloomington-based State Farm Insurance will withdraw its long-time sponsorship from the LPGA Classic after this year.

A State Farm spokesman said the decision to withdraw sponsorship was a "difficult decision", which came after the company evaluated State Farm's goals and objective...and where consumers are.

It was not, the spokesman said, a financial-based decision, but that it was, he said, "time for us to move on".

State Farm will continue sports sponsorships on both the collegiate and professional levels.

A statement from the LPGA said the organization was " disappointed by the news", but "thankful for their years of support".

The last LPGA State Farm Classic will be played in Springfield in June.

The LPGA says it has begun the work of looking for a major sponsor for 2012
