Some motorists with flex fuel vehicles found a real bargain when they filled up with E-85 at one gas station.
Thorntons filling stations offered its flex fuel customers E-85 for 85-cents a gallon from 7 this morning until 3 Friday afternoon.
The fuel is 85-percent ethanol and 15-percent petroleum.
Motorists with a flex fuel vehicle found the price a nice surprise.
"Just watching the gallons run up higher than the prices. It's like stepping back in time. Remembering when you could buy it for less than a dollar. It just seems strange," Brock Lindenfelfer, customer.
Thorntons sells E-85 at seven locations in Illinois. The normal price for E-85 is less than regular unleaded gasoline - but the price does vary.
