PEORIA, Ill. -- If you were traveling around downtown Peoria Tuesday morning, you may have noticed something a little out of the ordinary: a 10-foot inflatable dog that resembled a hot-dog.
The giant pooch was part of a protest held by the group Mercy for Animals.
The group is behind recent undercover investigations into factory farms that have forced some in the meat industry to change the way they do business.
Tuesday, protesters were in Peoria to ask the question "Why Love One but Eat the Other?".
"The only difference between the animals we call pets and the animals we call meals is our treatment of them," said Phil Letten, National Campaign Coordinator for Mercy for Animals. "All animals suffer pain and experience pleasure in the same way and are deserving of the same consideration and respect."
Mercy for Animals has been in existence since 1999.
Unlike PETA, the group focuses solely on farmed animals.
