Tuesday night President Obama will give his State of the Union address.

And locally, Peoria Mayor Jim Ardis will deliver a State of the City speech.

Mayor Ardis says he will use the speech to talk to the community about 2010 and what city officials foresee in the coming year.

He will focus on the city's financial situation and structural deficit.

Budget cuts could mean cuts to personnel including police and fire officials.

Mayor Ardis says, "80%of our operating budget is people, and about 70% of our people are in the public safety areas. So it would be very difficult for us to look at the overall picture without at least taking into consideration what reductions in those areas could do to the budget."

The State of the City Speech will be at 11:15 Tuesday morning at the Civic Center Ballroom.

Mayor Ardis adds the council is considering former County Administrator Patrick Urich as the next City Manager, they will discuss contract talks in an executive session Tuesday night.
