Autopsy results released in Mapleton couple's deaths

MAPLETON, Ill. -- Preliminary autopsy results show Emmett and Rebecca Ledbetter both died from gunshot wounds.

Peoria County Coroner Johnna Ingersoll confirmed that Emmett Ledbetter was killed from a contact range gun shot wound to the head, meaning it was self-inflicted.

Rebecca Ledbetter was also killed by a gun shot wound to the head.

Ingersoll said there was no evidence of trauma to Rebecca's body.

Toxicology results will available in 10 days.

The couple were pronounced dead at their home on S. Harkers Corner around 7:45 Tuesday night.
