ADM --which operates facilities in Peoria and throughout the midwest wants to close the Galesburg facility. Costing Galesburg 31 jobs.

Galesburg Mayor Sal Garza t wants to meet with ADM executives to discuss why they're closing the plant and to see if there's any way to keep it open.

But it's too late for the Mayor of Blue Island, Illinois... "There's very little a mayor can do".

In Blue Island, the Modern Drop Forge company and nearly 250 employees are leaving....moving 30 miles east in Merrillville, Indiana.

Don Peloquin, Blue Island Mayor, "They're looking at dollars. If it costs this much here under the worker's comp law, when they go to Indiana they drop it by 30-40 percent, they save that much money."

But it wasn't just lower worker's comp expenses. Indiana offered Modern Drop Forge an incentive package worth $5.5 million over the next few years.

Governor Pat Quinn today said Illinois had made it's own "generous offer" to keep Drop Forge in this state.

Meanwhile, Quinn was touting the creation of 12-hundred new jobs in Chicago by way of a $146 million road project. About the Illinois/Indiana fight for jobs, he said..."We believe in cooperating with other states, be it Indiana or Wisconsin or Missouri..." But he added.... "We had a visit from the Presdient of China. He didn't go to Kokomo or Schboygan. He came to Chicago, Illinois."
