PEORIA, Ill. -- Local educators are taking a closer look at discipline tactics in the classroom, particularly when it comes to cell phone use.

According to our news partners at WMBD 1470, at tomorrow night's committee of the whole meeting, District 150 school board members are set to discuss specific punishments for cell phone use in class.

Superintendent Grenita Lathan said she does not believe the solution lies in taking cell phones away from students.

"In this day and age, you can't do that," said Lathan.

But district officials said they are looking to set stricter limits and punishments, adding that they'd like to get students input before making decisions.
