EAST PEORIA, Ill -- Central Illinois Operation Santa's goal is to send 20,000 stockings to servicemembers overseas this holiday season. With Brett McMahon's help, they are well on their way to reaching that goal.

The 9-year-old East Peorian has collected over 12-thousand items this year to stuff stockings for men and women deployed all over the world. Items such as candy, beef jerky, and playing cards, which may be hard to come by when fighting overseas, bring comforts of home to the service members.

Brett says he understands why Operation Santa is so important, "Because I really wanted to help the troops out, and they deserve something nice for Christmas."

He passed his goal of 9,000 items, and says he isn't stopping anytime soon.
