Fatal Shooting in Lexington Hills Apartment Complex

Peoria Police are investigating the city's eighth homicide. This one at the Lexington Hills apartment complex.

Peoria County Coroner Johnna Ingersoll says 20 year old Shadrach Bernius died of multiple gun shot wounds.

Authorities say the 9-1-1- call came in around 11:12 Wednesday night, they were dispatched to the scene on a report that a man had been shot.

Upon arrival, Officers located Bernius inside his apartment at 3401 Oak Crest suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and unresponsive.

Bernius was taken to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

An autopsy is scheduled for this afternoon.

According Officer Doug Burgess, Bernius only criminal record is a drinking violation that happened in February of this year.

Police are urging anyone with information on the case to contact them or Crimestoppers at 673-9000.
