PEORIA, Ill. -- Jury selection is now underway in the mass murder trial of Christopher Harris.
Harris was in the Peoria County Court Wednesday. He sat between his attorneys reading through juror questionnaires and occasionally taking notes.
Thirty potential jurors were ordered to report Wednesday. Only nine have been questioned.
All four jurors questioned Wednesday morning, three women and one man, will be seated. The group includes a retired optician, a consultant, a casino hostess and a cleaning business general manager.
Three potential jurors were dismissed. One is a male with sick parents. The other two are an educator who was unsure if she could be fair due to the child victims in the case and a woman who the defense claimed was shaped by previous experience with the legal system.
Two more potential jurors have been retained, but not selected. Jury selection is expected to continue through Friday.
Harris is accused killing five members of the Gee family in their Beason home in 2009.
