Construction is underway for main street commons-- a new upscale residential and retail area near Bradley University in Peoria.
Phase one includes rooms for 184 students.
The 2 bedroom 2 bath apartments run $659 a month per bedroom.
They include a washer-dryer and security system.
There will be green space, tanning beds and a work-out area.
Bradley University President Joanne Glasser said, "I'm not sure exactly how it compares, but I would suspect since it's two bedroom, two bath, it's a little more expensive, but college students I think and their parents are certainly willing to pay for wonderful living conditions in a safe environment in close proximity to the campus. "
Phase two of construction will include a pool and space for around 100 more students.
The first part of the project will be open by next fall.
