Major renovations are nearly complete at a downtown Peoria hotel.

The Holiday Inn City Centre is quickly transforming into the Four Points by Sheraton.

So far, workers have re-vamped guest rooms, bathrooms and ballrooms.

Signature Sheraton items like the "four Comfort" bed and 42-inch HDTVs are included in the first couple phases of the multi-million dollar renovations.

The luxury hotel's general manager says he hopes these upgrades will turn the area into a "five-star" attraction, especially for business.

"A lot of corporate travelers that come into Peoria will have a better brand to stay at. So, we are excited about it," said Sami Quereshi, General Manager. "I think it's going to help Peoria's economy by bringing more people, not only in downtown, but into the Peoria region."

With 300-plus rooms, Quereshi says the Four Points by Sheraton is one of, if not the biggest hotel in Central Illinois.

Doors will officially open under the new name on May 12, with more renovations continuing for up to the next two years.
