PEORIA, Ill. -- A group that supports the developmentally disabled through out central Illinois and a cooking competition, not two things you would necessarily associate.

PARC has been hosting cooking competitions over the last week and it is just one way the organization hopes to change the way you think about it.

"It is the beginning of something we hope will grow," said PARC CEO Kim Cornwell.

In its second year Cornwell hopes PARC's annual fundraiser "Bon Appetit" will be bigger than ever.

"Just a unique way to get out and challenge myself, work with fellow chefs and help out a good cause," said Chef Vince Swanson of Cracked Pepper.

Swanson and other chefs have been competing against each other for the last week in challenges modeled after Bravo's show Top Chef.  They are competing for the chance to meet Top Chef winner Kevin Sbraga, who will be hosting Bon Appetit Thursday.

Harvest café Chef Cameron Urban won the competition Thursday. The chefs had to create a vegetarian meal with vegetables from the soon-to-open PARC Farmer's Market.

"There are a lot of great chefs here and more events like this will support the chefs," said Urban.

Besides good food, Thursday's event will unveil a new brand and name for PARC.

"Our mission is going to continue to support individuals, adults and children, and their families with developmental disabilities.  That won't change, but it will be taking us into the future," said Cornwell.
