BLOOMINGTON, Ill.-- Tuesday marks the longest day of the year and and for some twin cities residents there's no better way to spend it than golfing.
In honor of the day, Bloomington golf courses are bringing back the longest day of golf event.
More than 100 golfers stepped out to the courses to tee off as early as 5:30 AM Tuesday morning and many plan to play through the entire day which doesn't finish up until 7:00 PM.
The Den in Bloomington is using the day as a way to reach out to residents who might not be golf regulars.
"It's a good time to enjoy the golf course with your friends and hopefully it's a chance for some players who normally wouldn't play our golf courses to come out and enjoy the day, see all three of our golf courses, and see what we have to offer," said club house manager Adam Osterburg.
And while for some it's all fun and games, for others it's all about the competition. After all, at the end of the day the golfer who has completed the most amount of holes will be awarded with the Longest Day Leader trophy.
