PEORIA, Ill. -- A community-based housing organization has found a new home on Peoria's south side.
METEC has settled into the former Peoria Public Library South Side Branch Building.
The organization offers home purchasing counseling, down payment assistance and foreclosure prevention for families earning low to moderate incomes.
The new location is centered in the Harrison Impact Zone, bringing the organization closer to those they serve.
"The big thing was for us to be allowed to be a resource center. Our goal was to provide more programming and services to the community and to surrounding counties in the area," said Cheryll Boswell, METEC's Executive Director.
METEC will also offer free tax preparation services beginning January 28. For more information on the programs offered, call 309-676-3832.
