Miami-Dade County county administrators there are under fire for stockpiling hundreds of new cars in a county garage for the past six years.

County administrators purchased hundreds of cars back 2006, but then decided a year later to drastically reduce the size of its fleet.

Records show the commissioners have known for at least two years about the stockpile.

By stockpile we mean at one point there were 1,200 vehicles sitting idle in this garage. That's about $4 million worth of cars.

Monday Mayor Carlos Gimenez released a memo, noting that his administration has reduced the number of vehicles in the garage to 157.
