Lincolnshire, ENGLAND -- England is just full of Quirky events during the summer months.

The world egg-throwing championships returned to England yesterday with a variety of events.

Competitors from Ireland, Australia, and Japan participated in Egg throwing.

Teams of two attempted to throw and catch an egg from different distances until one team was left.

So it really should be called "egg catching," but the pitchers get all the glory.

The sport originated many centuries ago when abbots would throw eggs across flooded rivers to parishioners on the other side.

What's their story anyway.

The home team won the egg throwing competition with a throw of 187 feet, the longest successful throw of the day.
