You might have heard of the Seinfeld show's "festivus tradition of the airing of grievances"...

Well a group of indigenous people in Peru take it to a whole other level....

The idea is that grievences don't carry over from one year to the next.

As opposed to apologising, however, this annual festival in Peru sees men and women fighting one-on-one to settle their grievances ahead of the new year.

Community members say it not only clears the air of any hostility that may have built up over the year, but even strengthens friendships.

Some combatants could be seen hugging and smiling after it was all said and done.

Serious injuries are rare...and when it's done...there's a community dance.

Fighters normally just suffer bumps and bruises.
