The reptile house at the Bronx Zoo in New York reopened Friday, with a new star to bring in the crowds....or at least news cameras.

Mia the Egyptian cobra made her debut in her new enclosure at the zoo Friday.

Mia is the 20-inch long, venomous, female cobra that disappeared two weeks ago... causing zoo officials to close down the reptile house.

She was found last thursday...six days later... in a dark corner of the reptile house..where she had been hiding out for several days.

Say, it sure does look like she's still looking for a way out.

Mia got her name from a ten year old boy who entered the "name that cobra" contest...

Mia...stands for Missing In Action.

Other finalists in the naming contest: _ Cleopatra.
_ Agnes, which is Greek for pure or holy.
_ Amaunet, the name of an ancient Egyptian goddess meaning "the female hidden one."
_ Subira (soo-BEE'-ruh), Egyptian for "patient."
