Mac & Mike's Pick: Reindeer races

Conditioned by that whole "Rudolph th Red Nosed You-know-what story...we think of Reindeer as gentle creatures..

A little town in Norway celebrated a Norwegian holiday by holding.

What else??...Reindeer races.

Over the weekend, it was "Sami Day"

"Sami Day" honorsthe traditional reindeer herdsmen.

Hundreds of folks turned out in Tromsoe, Norway to watch reindeer show what they've got.

As it turns out, they're pretty speedy when they want to be.

Then again, this isn't the "Santa and Sleigh" kind of event that we know so well.

These reindeer were a little skittish.

Some of the racers proved that you could race without skiis.

After a number of false starts, but then the races began. It was a photo finish. And even then it was a split decision on who won.
