With gas prices continuing to hover around the $4.00 mark...the "sluggers" may have a good idea.

"Sluggers" are --for the folks around Washington DC --what your and I would call "hitchhikers".

And, forget the idea that these are college students trying for a cheap ride home...

No, outside the Nation's Capitol --these are office workers looking for a cheap ride to work.

Sluggers are commuters - usually from Virginia or Maryland...hitching rides to D.C. with complete strangers.

Sluggers get a free ride, and drivers get to use fast carpool lanes.

Sluggers can save--between gas and parking--hundreds of dollars a week.

Now there are some "slugging" rules: you can't talk on cell phones, and you should say hello and goodbye to drivers on the way in and out
